Curbside Bulk Waste
The Town of Rocky Hill provides bulk waste pick-up of large items for homeowners. Bulk waste pick-ups are not provided for commercial properties or apartment complexes.
Residents of apartment complexes may bring bulk items to the Transfer Station with proper proof of residency.
WHAT:
Bulk waste refers to large items that cannot be collected as part of the automated trash collection system such as an item of furniture (i.e. a couch, a mattress, a bureau), an appliance (i.e. a stove, a microwave), electronics (i.e. a printer, a computer, a TV), and other typical household items. It does not include any demolition, building, renovation, or remodeling materials, no toilets, no sinks, no wooden pallets, no mirrors, no glass, no pet carriers or crates, and no cardboard. Those items must be brought to the Transfer Station. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE TENANT MOVE-OUTS, HOUSE CLEANOUTS, or HOUSE MOVE-OUTS. Mattresses that are soiled by biohazardous fluids, etc. will not be picked up by Public Works. They must be bagged and brought to the Transfer Station.
HOW: Residents should call the Bulk Pick-up/Transfer Station line at 860-338-9612, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to schedule a curbside bulk waste pick-up. Pick-up dates are based on the residents' address and availability. Maps of the zones with the streets included can be viewed below.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT PICK-UPS MAY BE DELAYED DUE TO HOLIDAYS, STAFFING, OR INCLEMENT WEATHER.
Please note: Public Works reserves the right to limit the number of curbside pick-ups at a single residence.
