Address Changes

Real Estate

Real Estate mailing address changes must be reported to the Assessor's Office. Please fill out and sign our Real Estate Change of Address Form (PDF). If you are not the owner but an authorized agent, please attach authorization (i.e. Power of Attorney).

Motor Vehicle

In-state motor vehicle address changes are reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Their address change form is available on the DMV website. Your July tax bill comes from the town where your car was registered on the prior October 1st. If you worried about not receiving a bill due to the timing of the address change, call the Tax Office on July 1st in the town hall where your car was registered as of the prior October 1st to find out what taxes are due. If it is regarding a newly purchased car on the Supplemental List, call January 1st.

If you moved out of state, however, you must provide to the assessor the proof of registration in your new state and cancel the Connecticut plate. Visit our Motor Vehicle page for more motor vehicle adjustment information.

Business Personal Property

Business mailing address changes must be reported to the Assessor's Office. Please fill out and sign our Personal Property Change of Address Form (PDF) so that the Declaration of Business Personal Property and tax bills will be mailed to the correct address. If you moved the business itself, fill out the "Moved Business" section of the form and notify the assessor in the town you moved to. Your July tax bill comes from the town where your business was located as of the prior October 1st.
