Tax Collector's Office Policies

  • Checks should be made payable to the "Town of Rocky Hill".  Third party checks are not accepted. 
  • If an immediate DMV release is needed, payments must be made in full for all related tax bills, not just the car being registered.  Payments must be made by cash, money order, cashier’s check, or credit/debit card. 
  • If payment is made by an electronic check or a personal check, a copy of the cleared ACH transaction or front and back of the check must be presented to the tax office or a waiting period of two weeks before the release to motor vehicle will be processed.
  • Per Connecticut State Statue C.G.S §§ 12-130, failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax.  If you have not received a tax bill by July 1st, please contact the tax office at 860-258-2717 immediately.  Also, if you believe you received a tax bill in error, please contact the tax office at 860-258-2717 as soon as possible.
  • Tax bills are mailed out once a year in June.  No reminders are sent for the January payment.
  • If the payment due date of August 1st or February 1st lands on a weekend, the grace period is extended to the next business day.
